ABOUT HOPKINS & PORTER
Potomac, MD based Hopkins & Porter Construction, Inc., was started by its two principals, Guy Hopkins Semmes and Michael Porter Denker in 1977. The company was incorporated in 1982. It has grown from a two-man organization to one which currently employs skilled craftsmen, talented architects, project coordinators, many of which have been with the company for 15 years or more. Hopkins & Porter provides full service custom design/build services specializing in large additions and custom homes which enhance and harmonize with existing structures and communities and are in keeping with sound environmental practices. A full-time handyman service is maintained for the benefit of new and existing clients, allowing strong support for our extended warranty. Our office staff supports the field in architectural design, sales, production, and administration.
Our founder Guy Semmes, has been a registered contractor in Maryland, the District of Columbia, and Virginia since 1975. His background in Archaeology inspired his interest in preserving and renovating old buildings. Mike Denker joined forces with Guy Semmes and together they founded Hopkins & Porter Construction in 1977.
Today Hopkins & Porter is led by Ray Hornsby. Ray believes that remodeling is a service, not a product. Our tagline reflects that – “it’s the way we care”. Every member of the Hopkins & Porter team; from design through product selections to construction makes every attempt to make sure the client’s experience is wonderful. It’s just the way Hopkins & Porter cares about homeowners.
